About the Author

STEPHEN FORTESCUE is Associate Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations, University of New South Wales, Australia. He completed a PhD on Soviet primary party organizations at the Australian National University in 1977. After a number of years working in Soviet-related business he returned to academia, with research appointments at the ANU and the University of Birmingham.
