Annette Martin is a retired school counsellor from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. She was born and raised in New Perlican, Newfoundland, where The Alder Bed is set. An English major in college and someone in love with books and writing since childhood, Martin has a deep and abiding love for history and a particular fondness for Newfoundland and its people.
