Sahan Jayasuriya

Sahan Jayasuriya is a music writer and musician based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sahan's interest
in music began at birth, and by the early 90s, he was absorbing everything he
could via FM alternative radio and MTV. As a teen, he developed a deep interest
in underground music through releases on labels like Dischord, Jade Tree and
Hydra Head, obsessively frequenting independent record shops. Throughout
his 20s, he wrote for a handful of Milwaukee based publications
like The Shepherd Express and Milwaukee Magazine, covering local and
national acts, often with a focus on artists' influences and creative
processes.

In 2006, while employed at Milwaukee's now defunct Atomic Records, he was
blindsided after hearing Die Kreuzen's "Cows and Beer" 7, -inch, prompting
him to further explore their catalog and history. Jayasuriya spent the
last decade putting together a full length biography on Die Kreuzen, conducting
extensive interviews with the band members and tracking down as much old press
as he could find.

When not writing about music, Jayasuriya plays in the Midwest slowcore band
Good Night & Good Morning.
