She is called to the Bench Fire where she finds multiple towns being destroyed, people trapped and it is her responsibility to take charge of the disaster. While saving people, she comes across children trapped in a burning house.After rescuing them she learns there are two more children, a small boy and baby trapped in the house next door that is fully involved. She manages to rescue the children but it's a near thing. Cole, now a veteran football player, watches the fire with the rest of the world live on TV. He realizes the firefighter risking their life going into the burning buildings to save the children is his childhood best friend Annie. He realizes he loves her.
