In the soot-choked valley of an industrial town, fifteen-year-old Billy Ridley dreams of escape. When a violent clash with his stepfather forces him to flee, he sets out alone with nothing but a few belongings, a canvas bag, and a desperate hope for a better life.

His journey along the canal paths of northern England brings hardship, friendship, and revelation. From an old baker's compassion to the rough fellowship of canal folk aboard The Guinevere, Billy learns that survival requires courage, kindness, and faith in tomorrow.

Guided by Oberon Ainscough - a fallen aristocrat seeking his own redemption - Billy discovers that the world beyond his hometown is both cruel and astonishingly generous.

Travels in Search of Tomorrow is a moving tale of loss, endurance, and the quiet triumph of the human spirit - a story for anyone who has ever longed to start again.
