About Alan Murray

Alan Murray Before entering academic life, Professor Murray gained wide managerial and business experience through careers in both the public and private sectors. Having undertaken an undergraduate degree in his forties, he then embarked on a PhD study focusing on the role of social information in capital markets. He founded the British Academy of Management Special Interest Group in CSR, in 2007, and went on to organise a number of conferences to support the growing number of researchers and teachers in the CSR and sustainability field, and in 2008, published Corporate Responsibility: A Critical Introduction, with Michael Blowfield which quickly established itself as the leading textbook in the area. In 2006 Professor Murray was part of the United Nations Taskforce which developed the Principles of Responsible Management Education (Visit PRME), and was elected Chair of the PRME Regional Chapter for the UK and Ireland in May 2013.
