About Ilan Wiesel

Dr Ilan Wiesel is a lecturer in urban geography at the School of Geography, University of Melbourne, Australia. Previously he worked as a senior research fellow at the City Futures Centre, University of New South Wales, Australia (2009-2016). Ilan's research interest is in social diversity and inequality in cities, with a particular focus on the role of housing and neighbourhood dynamics in the production of social privilege and disadvantage, and in 2014 he was awarded an ARC DECRA fellowship to study the initiation, preservation and mobilisation of privilege in elite neighbourhoods. Ilan publishes regularly in leading international journals in the fields of housing and urban studies.
