2018 800-CEO-READ Business Book Awards call for entries is now open
July 31, 2018
Any business book published in the U.S. within the year 2018 is eligible and submissions to the awards are free.
800-CEO-READ invites submissions for the company’s 12th annual Business Book Awards, which recognize the best books in the ever-expanding business genre, and all the people in the industry who help bring them to life.
Award winners are determined by 800-CEO-READ’s awards committee, who have a combined 65+ years of business book industry experience. The 2018 categories encompass a broad range of nonfiction books, which will be judged on the originality and applicability of their ideas and quality of the writing. The company has always celebrated groundbreaking business writing and bringing new voices, understanding, and experiences to the genre. To expand upon that, they strongly encourage submissions of books written by women and people of color.
“We believe there is nothing inherently gendered in the act of making a living, but the classics in the business books genre have slanted towards the white male experience,” said 800-CEO-READ General Manager Sally Haldorson. “That is changing, and through our annual book awards, we strive to add new voices to the canon, making it more reflective of the wide spectrum of people doing the work to keep our companies and our country progressing. Reading books from a broader range of perspectives is an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to rethink our ingrained assumptions about what and who makes a great employee or a great leader.”
