The Resurgence of Explicit Gender Bias and How to Combat It
By Andrea S. Kramer, Alton B. Harris
The traditional tools and techniques that are effective in preventing implicit gender bias from having a discriminatory impact on women’s career advancement are of little use in combatting explicit gender bias. There must be far more active, vigorous, and open condemnation of each and every public misogynistic attack on women.

Saving Face: The New Social Currency of Our Time
By Maya Hu-Chan
True leaders know that managing a company requires far more than just issuing instructions or setting targets. Leaders must move in many circles, think in many styles, and run their businesses through a global lens. At the heart of human connection that makes all this possible is a concept that is deeply rooted in Asian culture, but universal to all: the concept of face.

Ten Elements of Outstanding Customer Service Cultures
By Micah Solomon
"Don’t fall into the trap of thinking there’s an infinite supply of new customers out there for the taking if only your marketing and sales departments would do their jobs, seeking out and converting more leads. Tell yourself instead that not only are customers a limited commodity, there’s no such thing as 'customers' in the plural. Rather, there’s just one customer: the one who’s being served right now."

Forming Labor-Management Partnerships for Systemic Change in Healthcare
By Peter Lazes, Marie Rudden
In order to create systems that provide cost-effective, timely, professional, and better-coordinated care, it is essential that healthcare organizations make use of the input of staff at every level.

Anti-Monopoly and How it Can Unite Us
By Sally Hubbard
We blame the economy for our financial struggles, but the economy—apart from the COVID-19 catastrophe—has been doing just fine. The problem is that the ultrarich are hoarding its spoils. What changed from the 1980s to today that made the economy stop working for the middle class? A big piece of that puzzle is monopoly.

The Professional and the Creative Process

We don’t ship the work because we’re creative. We’re creative because we ship the work.

The Importance of Propaganda Education
By Renee Hobbs
The study of propaganda provides plentiful opportunities to address values, ethics, and morality. As people activate critical thinking skills in recognizing and responding to propaganda, they increase autonomy and personal freedom.

America, the Green: How We (All) Succeed

An Invitation to Heal
By Larry Ward
"It is no small task to attempt to describe America’s racial karma—what it is, and how to transform it—especially if, many days, it may feel as if there is little or no movement forward. Yet, I know once we recognize America’s racial karma as actions that continue to give birth to the notion of white racial superiority and its psychosocial consequences, we gain the necessary insight to change course."
The original idea behind ChangeThis came from Seth Godin, and was built in the summer of 2004 by Amit Gupta, Catherine Hickey, Noah Weiss, Phoebe Espiritu, and Michelle Sriwongtong. In the summer of 2005, ChangeThis was turned over to 800-CEO-READ. In addition to selling and writing about books, they kept ChangeThis up and running as a standalone website for 14 years. In 2019, 800-CEO-READ became Porchlight, and we pulled ChangeThis together with the rest of our editorial content under the website you see now. We remain committed to the high-design quality and independent spirit of the original team that brought ChangeThis into the world.
